TPB allots P9.9M fund for Iloilo City's promotion as 'bike capital'

ILOILO CITY, Dec. 2 (PIA) - Iloilo City will be receiving P9.9-million worth of funds for the promotion of Iloilo City as the "Bike Capital of the Philippines."

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Trenas said that the city government has been promoting this metropolis as the Bike Capital of the Philippines, considering that it was hailed as the "Most Bike Friendly City".

"Soon, we will level up our promotions with the help of the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB). They will be providing P9.9 million worth of funds for the promotion of Iloilo City as the Bike Capital of the Philippines," he said.

He said that Iloilo City is home to the longest protected bike lane in the Philippines and cycling has been an alternative form of transportation for the Ilonggos during the pandemic.

"We will continue to promote a healthy and safe city for our residents and guests," he added.

Meanwhile, Trenas expressed his gratitude to the Capitol Cycling Club of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol for organizing the Bonifacio Day "Fun Ride Fund Drive" for the victims of typhoon Ulysses in Isabela.

"They were able to raise P103,050.00 for the typhoon victims," he added. (JSC/LTP/PIA6 Iloilo)
